people: shame
Khadeja was born in war-torn Somalia. She lost most of her family to war, starvation and disease. She spent years in squallid refugee camps. Her loved ones likely sacrificed everything they had so that she could come to America because they believed that it was the land of freedom and tolerance, that she could start a new life free from the oppression they had known. This week, the voters of the state of Arizona told her to
go fuck herself.
I am ashamed to call myself an American.
Leviticus 19:33-34: 'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.'
UPDATE: I have it on good information that this photo was, in fact, taken by joanna.
